The Cause of Hair Loss

Normally, about 10 percent of the hair on your head is resting (not growing). After a few months, the resting hair falls out and new hair begins to grow in its place. The growing phase can last from 2 to 6 years. While in the growing phase, hair will gain approximately 1 centimeter a month. It is normal to experience hair loss every day as part of this normal resting/growing cycle. Some people experience excessive hair loss from a variety of causes.

The cause of hair loss is multi-variable. Most people erroneously believe that hair loss is caused by things like bad circulation, stress, sweat and dirt on the scalp, or wearing hats. With the exception of stress, none of these factors has been proven as a cause of hair loss. Stress is also not very likely unless you have undergone extreme physical or psychological torture. This hair loss is also temporary.

The real cause of hair loss lies with hormonal problems. Hair loss occurs when male or female hormones (androgens and estrogens) are out of balance. An imbalance of hormones is usually a genetic trait that as of yet, cannot be cured. Male and female-pattern baldness is the most common form of hair loss. This is caused by a hormone called DHT, a naturally occurring hormone that helps in sexual development. After puberty, an increase in DHT causes an increase in binding at hair follicle protein receptor sites which throws the process of healthy hair growth off.

Other causes of hair loss may be medicine. Blood-thinners, medicines used in chemotherapy, an excess of vitamin A, birth control pills, and antidepressants have all been shown to promote hair loss in certain people. Infections of the scalp can cause hair loss as well as certain diseases like lupus and diabetes.

Quick Hair Removal Solutions: Understanding How Laser Hair Removal Works

The quintessential quick hair removal solution is beyond doubt laser hair removal today. In a day and age that is being punctuated with a phenomenal growth of personal beauty treatments, quick hair removal solutions have come of age. A clinically precise technology with diverse applicability available at a price that wont blow a hole in your pocket will be a rocketing success. laser hair removal surely is showing signs of being just that.

The fundamental question is of course as a quick hair removal solution how exactly does laser hair removal work its magic? A root analysis is important even for the least discerning seeker of hair removal solutions. Here is the inside dope on this marvelous technology: Human hair grows from under the base of the skin where the bulb of the hair is situated. To permanently inhibit this growth, the bulb needs to be destabilized, some thing that permanent hair removal solutions such as laser hair removal do. Hair growth occurs in phases, and the ?active phase? of growth is when the bulb destabilization yields long term results, and therefore laser hair removal is commonly done as a series of treatments.

Quick hair removal by hair lasers is simply an outcome of the structural difference of a laser beam as compared to a normal light beam. Since the laser beam is a high energy beam, it causes thermal agitation of whatever particles lie in its path, more specifically in our case, the hair follicle. Skin pigment called melanin present in the hair follicle responds to the laser energy and breaks down due to the increase in thermal energy. This break down prevents the growth of hair for a considerable duration of time if not permanently. Depending on the type of skin, area of hair removal required and the nature of the hair itself, different hair lasers varying by strength and specificity of application can be used as a quick hair removal solution.

In a nutshell, this is how laser hair removal works under your skin literally so that you may go about your life, feeling at the top of your personal confidence and pride!

Do Hats Cause Baldness?

The constant falling of hair causes a lot of concern. Finding the cause for the hair fall becomes a necessity. And to find the cause you end up asking a lot of questions. The hair loss questions that come to mind usually are, whether we are taking proper care of the hair? Whether the food is nutritious? And if a person wears caps or hats regularly, then the question that comes to mind is, do hats cause baldness? Proper care and nutritious food are necessary for maintaining hair and an imbalance could cause balding but there has been no finding that relates wearing hats to baldness.

People who work in services like military, police, and fire brigade have to wear hats or caps all day. Usually it has been seen that hair loss and wearing hats coincide, but there is no proof that the hair loss starts due to your wearing hats. A male hormone called Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is responsible for the hair loss. An imbalance of DHT damages hair follicles and for this reason hair falls. There are other reasons also that cause hair loss.

Normally hair loss starts due to three basic reasons, these are stress, DHT and health. In the armed forces and other services stress is at a high level. Due to this stress the hair starts falling. Poor health can damage blood cells and vessels. Dead vessels hold back the growth process of hair, which in turn creates baldness on the head. This type of hair loss can be seen with people suffering from heart diseases. Heart patients suffer from hair loss problems.

So we can conclude that hair loss does not happen due to wearing hats. Though, wearing tight hats all the time can cause a little bit of split hair ends. In fact, most people start wearing hats only after they go bald.

Hair Loss of the Bariatric or Gastric Bypass Patient

DON?T STRESS YOUR SCALP?. Avoid SOME Hair Loss!

You are most-likely aware that having Bariatric or Gastric Bypass surgery DOES cause you to experience ?some? type of hair loss as you lose the weight so rapidly. You?ve heard the rumors, and they are TRUE to the point that you WILL LOSE some hair? but you will not be bald in the least! In all of my years attending a support group, NEVER have I seen one bald person yet! So rest assured that although you DO lose ?some? hair, it won?t be all.

Let?s simplify this topic by putting it in a question/answer format:

Q: Why do we lose some hair?

A: As a pre-op person, you used to consume between 3,000 to 5,000 calories a day. But once you have the surgery, your caloric intake is drastically reduced to a mere 300-600 calories a day. This puts the body in an ?emergency? mode as it thinks something is terribly wrong, and it begins to focus ONLY on supporting the vital organs that will sustain life. Hair has never been under the category of a ?life-sustaining? organ; therefore, the body puts the hair on the back-burner until it is sure that the body is going to be okay enough to again send nutrients to the hair.

Q: When does hair loss begin?

A: It normally will begin anywhere from one month after surgery and last until about 6 months after surgery. Of course, this can begin during the third month or even extend beyond the sixth month. It varies from person to person.

Q: How much hair is lost?

A: Some will jokingly tell you that they could build a cat out of all the hair they lost, but that is not true. While you will notice some handfuls come out as you wash your hair in the shower, see more than normal in your comb or hairbrush, and perhaps even see some on your pillow when you wake up in the morning -- this is nothing to be alarmed over. IT WILL STOP FALLING OUT once the body begins to feel that life is ?normal? and it will trust that it?s okay to send nutrients to the hair again. Be patient and know that it DOES STOP in time.

There ARE some TIPS that will help you NOT experience so much hair loss, however?..

DO NOT wear a hat, scarf, head bands, tight barrettes, ponytail holders or anything similar that will pull or tug on the follicles of your hair. Pulling and pushing on the hair weakens it when it is already eager to fall out. Avoid these items for at least the first six months after surgery.

DO NOT stress the hair with hot treatments such as hairdryers, curling irons, or hot rollers. Stand in front of a fan to dry your hair in a hurry and use good hair jells to create some curl if you want. Sprays are okay too. Even hair color is okay IF you do it sparingly rather than the standard automatic every 6 weeks. Try to go 8 weeks in between hair coloring. Perms are a bit more stressful, though some have had success doing them. You?ll have to judge this for yourself as you evaluate this for yourself. You can always be confident in asking your hairdresser about it if you are not sure.

DO TRY a new hair style. As heavy people, we often relied on our hair?s BEST looks to draw attention away from our extra pounds. But as you are losing, people aren?t noticing your hair anymore? they are noticing the pounds falling off, which is a perfect time for you to consider totally changing your hair style IF it will help you manage it better and also keep more of it on your head. Long hair is a heaviness on the head, which does stress and pull at the hair follicles. So perhaps a shorter style would help your delicate hair stay ON the head. Just as your body is experiencing a ?makeover?, why not consider your hairstyle as well?. Especially if it will help you KEEP more hair?

DO TRY a product called NIOXIN that you can purchase from your beauty salon. It?s a three-step process of a product that helps cancer patients keep more of their hair as it falls out. It strengthens the follicles. I personally used this product, and I fully believe it helped more of my hair stay attached than what might have happened had I not used it. I noticed a remarkable difference when I used this product. And I can tell you that others also have similar testimonials on this product.

DO TRY to remember that your hair is only falling out temporarily and it will soon STOP and STAY ON again! Some people have experienced that their hair soon becomes healthier than they?ve ever had before! Sometimes the texture even changes?. Sounds FUN, huh? It can be!

BOTTOM LINE: Have a GOOD ATTITUDE about your hair? take care of it, baby it, and you?ll find that you?ll be out of that FALLING OUT Zone shortly! Today?s hairstyles ARE more relaxed, and with the right cut, you?ll look just as glamorous as a celebrity! Don?t despair?. Just know that we?re NOT a group of baldies!!!

What's Up With Male Pattern Balding?

You've seen it in the movies, you've spotted it on TV. You've noticed it at the workplace and (if you're a man) you may even have seen it on yourself. It's that classic hairdo that never goes out of fashion: male pattern balding. What's up with this strange fact of mens' lives? Why does it happen? Can we stop it? And why does it have that weird shape?

First, if you're not sure what male pattern balding looks like, scan the room you're in or look at the TV. Chances are if you see ten men, you'll spot at least a couple sporting some stage of the male pattern balding hairdo. It begins with a bit of a receding hairline and some thin hair right on top. And as the pattern develops, the hairline heads back towards the increasing bald spot until the two become one.

So why does it happen? Male pattern balding is a result of the two H factors: heredity and hormones. Unfortunately, the exact cause is not clear, but we know it has to do with these two factors. Let's take a look at them both.

Heredity refers to the simple fact that if you're family has a history of hair loss, you'll probably be sporting some male pattern baldness at some point in your life. Obviously, this is a pretty common condition. In fact, by the time men are 30, a quarter of them have begun to lose their hair. By 60, two thirds of men have experienced hair loss.

The second factor is the male hormone testosterone. Testosterone, as all guys know, shows up during puberty and causes hair to start growing all over the place. Ironically, it is testosterone and its close relative DHT that stops hair from growing on the scalp. Follicles become smaller and smaller until the hair ceases to exist at all.

Is there anything you can do about it? Well, not really. Honestly, if there was a cure would half of the male population be sporting this silly hairstyle? Now there are some options that work for some people, but understand that none are a cure. Rogaine is a very well known hair regrowth treatment as is the prescription drug Propecia. You can also research hair transplants and hair pieces.

The simple fact, however, is that we don't understand male pattern balding, can't control it, and can't cure it. It doesn't cause any medical conditions and certainly won't kill you. At worst, it is a socially embarrassing condition. But only if you make it that. Losing your hair doesn't change you and your true friends will know that. Will women pay you less attention? Only the ones that you don't want a longterm relationship with anyway. So don't panic. Don't do anything silly like try a comb over. Embrace your new hair style and be confident that at least 25% of your peers are going through the same thing.

You Need To Know The Possible Hair Loss Causes

Hair loss causes range from simple to complex. Some of the simple causes of hair loss include recovery from major surgery. Such invasive medical treatments cause trauma to the hair follicles and large clumps of hair often come out when you are grooming your hair. Your doctor will advise you that this is normal and your hair growth will return to normal, but it could take 3 or 4 months. Since you know it is only temporary, these hair loss causes should not be a major cause for alarm.

Other hair loss causes from medical treatments include the effects of chemotherapy and the side effects of many antibiotics. The fact that you will lose your hair with many of these drugs is common knowledge and once the regimen of treatment is finished, your hair will start to grow back. Thinning hair causes, for people who are not taking medications, can include a lack or the proper nutrients, lack of sleep and not taking proper care of your hair.

Hormones are also thinning hair causes as well. An underactive or overactive thyroid gland can cause hair loss, but once again these hair loss causes respond well to the proper medication. If your male or female hormones become unbalanced, this can also lead to thinning hair or loss of hair. Once you contact your doctor to find out what is happening and you start a regular hormone treatment, you will start to regain your full head of hair. Having a baby is also one of the leading hair loss causes for women, especially if the birth process was traumatic. Pregnancy causes changes in the body?s hormones and once they return to normal following birth, the hair growth process returns to normal as well.

Some of the medicines that have been identified as thinning hair causes include: ?Blood thinners for heart disease
?Medication for gout
?Too much Vitamin A
?Anti-depressants
?Birth control pills

Infections, especially in children, are also possible hair loss causes. Many children get fungal infections of the scalp and they cause the hair to start thinning and falling out. The doctor can prescribe anti-fungal medications to help clear up the infection and prevent further hair thinning and loss. Diabetes and lupus are also diseases that cause hair loss. Since hair loss is often a warning sign of a disease, it is important to contact your doctor to find out the reason and what you can do to keep it under control. People look at their hair as their most important asset and should do everything they can to protect it.

Hair loss causes can be many and varied. If you are suffering then you need to find out the cause of your hair loss before you consider doing anything else.

Hair Transplant Straight Forward And Affordable But Still Cosmetic Surgery

Hair loss affects an estimated fifty million men and thirty million women in the United States alone. The cause is an excess of Dihydro-testosterone (DHT hormone) in certain areas of the scalp, mostly due to hereditary conditions.

Hair transplant is the only everlasting solution to all types of hair loss.

About 95 percent of all cases of hair loss are the result of androgenetic alopecia, also known as male pattern baldness in men.

By the time we are forty years old, forty percent of women and nearly forty percent of men have visible symptoms of hereditary hair loss.

By age fifty, fifty percent of both genders show signs of androgenetic alopecia. Hereditary hair loss can be inherited from the mother, the father, and even from both parents in combination.

Race neither increases nor decreases a person's likelihood of experiencing hereditary hair loss. Hereditary hair loss affects all ethnicities.

In recent years researchers are finding that environmental issues may also be causing both men and women to lose hair at an earlier age.

Hair transplantation is the best known method of hair restoration and also the method of hair restoration most often used to treat hair loss due to androgenetic alopecia.

The cosmetic surgery procedure of hair transplantation begins by removing a strip of hair follicles from the donor area, which is the horseshoe shaped fringe of hair on the lower back and sides of the head, the strip of healthy hair is then dissected into hundreds and even thousands of follicular units. These units, which contain from one to four hairs each, are then transplanted into the thinning or balding areas.

The hair taken from the donor area will continue to grow and not fall out as a result of pattern baldness because this hair is not sensitive to the male hormone DHT.

It is important to note, that the hairless part of the head is not the reason of your hair loss; it is the genetic makeup of the hair. Healthy follicular units from the back of the head will continue growing as they always have independently of where they have been relocated.

When hair transplantation surgery was first introduced in the 1950's, it was a complicated and costly cosmetic surgery procedure that often resulted in unnatural results.

Through extensive research and state-of-the-art developments in technique and instrumentation, hair transplantation has become a highly sophisticated yet relatively simple procedure. Major advancements in technique nowadays offer results that are remarkably natural in appearance and relatively affordable to most of us.

The average cost of hair transplantation surgery is between three and ten dollars per graft and the number of grafts needed depends on the extent of the balding area. The number of grafts needed varies greatly from case to case but we can say that it is commonly between five hundred and two thousands, therefore the average hair transplant cost ranges from $1500 to $20,000.

The surgeon's reputation for skill and experience is definitely a factor which may greatly influence the price as also is the geographical location.

Traveling to countries like Mexico, India or Greece, combining your hair transplant with some vacation time is a growing trend. The cost of the procedure may be drastically lower due to currency exchange and a little vacation time will allow you to completely recover rendering the change in appearance less obvious at your return home.

Most hair restoration clinics perform exceptionally well but you should always do your diligence, research your options, and if it is possible try to choose a hair restoration clinic which is patient focused rather than a commercially focused. Some clinics emphasize revenue, speed and volume rather than dedicating the time and individual care needed to produce optimal results.

I conclusion, hair transplant procedures have become simple and affordable but any type of cosmetic surgery is always surgery, which means that it is a serious matter, therefore never put yourself blindly in the hands of a surgeon without having first checked his references and rate of patients satisfaction.

This arm can be tilted and locked allowing a safe and comfortable ride for all users. Forward and reverse motion is controlled by two thumb levers. The seat of scooters is usually mounted on a stem, allowing many scooter seats to rotate from side to side. Finally, scooters have a base board instead of footrests. Natural Hair Loss Prevention and Treatment

In recent times, hair loss has become a common condition, especially among men although, the exact cause of hair loss is still a mystery. Some research studies have linked hair loss with the lack of iron, the condition of the skin on the scalp, an excess of the hormone DHT and probably an under active thyroid gland.

The hair, although it is thought of as dead, is a good indicator of general health and it is the first indicator that shows signs of ill health or lack of essential vitamins and minerals within the body. Oily hair can be a sign of vitamin B deficiency, brittle or dry hair can be an indicator of essential fats deficiency, dull hair color and poor growth can be signs of zinc deficiency and hair loss can be an indicator of lack of vitamin C, vitamin B1, iron and lysine. Grey hair comes with age and has no link to body health or nutrition and in most cases nutrition cannot be used to reverse it.

Although certain types of medicine are known to slow down the process of hair loss and even help with some form of hair re-growth, experts say that natural hair loss treatment can yield some of the best benefits for anyone concerned about the health of their hair.

Most people choose to treat their hair loss with medications or surgery, such as Minoxidil, Rogaine or a hair transplant. What these people fail to realize is that medication and surgery are costly and may carry some harmful side effects and risks. The safest and most cost effective form of hair loss therapy is natural hair loss treatment, which includes healthy dieting, herbal remedies, exercise and proper hair care techniques.

A fundamental principal in natural hair loss treatment is that the same foods that are good for your health are good for your hair. Hair loss can be caused by several factors, but lack of proper nutrition plays a vital role for most people. Foods that are high in protein, low in carbohydrates, and have reduced fat content can help in maintaining healthier hair and preventing hair loss. For example, essential fatty acids, found in spinach, walnuts, soy, tuna, sardines, sunflower seeds and canola oil, are important dietary essentials useful in keeping hair healthy. The omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids contain anti-inflammatory properties that are useful in maintaining healthy hair. Insufficient levels of these essential fatty acids could lead to quicker hair loss.

To avoid hair loss and have good healthy hair, a good nutritional diet is needed. This diet needs to be rich in organic whole foods such as fruit, vegetables, whole grains, poultry, fish, eggs, beans, nuts and seeds which are a rich source of vital nutrients needed for healthy hair roots and the protein keratin. Try not to skip meals, reduce salt, sugar, tea, coffee and chocolate intake, avoid stress, comb your hair gently and avoid using strong chemicals on your hair such as perms and color treatments. Vegetarians are prone to hair loss because their diet generally lacks the important nutrients, vitamin B12, iron and lysine. Vegetarians need to be aware of this and supplement their diet.

Besides taking the right diet pattern, several natural herbs are known to be very good in the prevention and treatment of hair loss. These herbs in most cases are safe; without harmful side effects and also cost effective. Among such herbs include nettles, usually taken in the form of Nettle Root Extract, which has been shown to be effective in preventing and treating hair loss. Nettles are rich in vitamins A and C that are beneficial in inhibiting DHT production and promoting hair growth as a natural hair loss treatment. Other traditional herbs that are useful as natural hair loss treatments are green tea, liquorice extract, horsetail, ginger, psoralea seeds, apple cider vinegar, rosemary and sage tea.

One important herb making the rounds in medical cycles is Saw Palmetto. Although most studies of Saw Palmetto have been for the treatment of prostatic disease, more recent studies have been conducted on its effectiveness in treating hair loss. The herb has been found to work in fighting benign prostatic disease by lowering levels of DHT, which is a known cause of androgenic alopecia, the medical term for male or female pattern hair loss. While there are no clinical trials supporting this herb's usefulness as a natural hair loss treatment, there is some reliable research proving that it can slow down androgen activity within the hair follicle.

The following supplements may help if you are suffering from hair loss.

B complex
Evening primrose oil
Fish oil
Kelp
Lysine
Multivitamins and multiminerals
Vitamin C

Hair loss is a common occurrence in almost everyone, though more pronounced in some people. If you are battling with this condition it would be wise to find treatment in your day to day items instead of spending a fortune on medical remedies that come with tons of side effects. Natural remedies are always safe, reliable and very cost effective, all you need is the right knowledge.

How To Apply Makeup For Everyday Wear

One of the questions women most frequently have regarding makeup is how to apply makeup for everyday wear. The key to applying makeup for everyday wear is do so in a way that does not look like you are wearing makeup at all. Everyday makeup applications should apply the principle of subtlety and moderation.

Before starting be sure to wash your face and apply a moisturizer to help your foundation glide on evenly. Choosing the right colors for your eyes is equally as important. Depending on the time of day or the function you are attending will help you decide which types of shades you should be using. Subtlety is very important in how to apply makeup for everyday wear. While special occasions may require a more dramatic look, everyday wear lends itself more to subtle makeup applications that enhance your best features while simultaneously minimizing your undesirable features. For everyday wear you want to apply your makeup in a way that is not obvious but does improve your appearance. Using complementary shades that work well with your skin tones are some of the best ways to create a subtle yet beautiful appearance.

Knowing how to apply makeup for everyday wear also requires the principle of moderation. Again nighttime activities or special occasions may present the opportunity to use an abundance of makeup to create a more dramatic look but this is not attractive if used during inappropriate occasions such as running errands during the day. You may wish to use several products such as mascara, eye liner, eye shadow, lip liner, lipstick and blush but it?s important to not go over the top with any of these products and use it excessively.

A Look at Male Hair Loss

At a research study held in a university in Norfolk, Virginia, it was found that 84 percent of men suffering from hair loss were preoccupied with the loss. They described feelings of helplessness, vulnerability, and jealousy of men with full, healthy heads of hair. Men who had begun losing their hair in their early twenties were more likely to have problems with low self-esteem.

Male hair loss occurs because of a hormone imbalance. The medical term for male-pattern baldness is Androgenetic Alopecia. This term will help you understand the factors involved in excessive male hair loss. Androgen refers to any of the many hormones that control the appearance and development of masculine traits. An example is testosterone. Genetic refers to heredity, the inheritance of genes from either the mother or father. Alopecia simply means hair loss. So we could say that male hair loss occurs because of male hormones affected by genetic inheritance.

DHT (testosterone and 5-alpha-reductase) is a naturally occurring hormone that helps in sexual development. Genetic switches in certain men after puberty cause changes in hair follicles; specifically androgen receptor sites on the follicles that regulate healthy hair growth. As DHT levels increase as men age, binding at the follicle receptor sites increases. This causes an imbalance in the biological processes of the hair follicles that are more sensitive. Slowly, the follicles begin to degrade as DHT builds up on the site causing hair to grow back thinner and shorter, eventually making it so thin and short that it can't be seen.

Men lose their hair in different ways based on their genetic predisposition. Male hair loss usually involves receding at the temples, loss on the top of the head, and thinning over large areas. These patterns are identified on something called the Norwood scale, which classifies different types of hair loss.

Facial Hair Removal Tips

How bothersome facial hair is, is really a personal matter. The eyebrows, the chin, the upper lip, the hair inside the nose, and the hair that covers the face can all be problematic, especially for women and especially if it's considerably darker than the surrounding skin.

So is there a 'best' way to remove unwanted facial hair? Whether it's truly effective or it's just something that's been passed down through the generations, shaving is the method of choice for today's man for removing unwanted facial hair. Shaving creams, gels, foams and other products facilitate the shaving process and help reduce skin irritation. But for women suffering with unwanted facial hair, their choices are not so obvious.

Women with excessive facial hair usually see it along the upper lip, down the sides of the face, and on the chin. Because facial hair is typically much more than a few wayward hair follicles, plucking these areas isn't an effective method. It's time-consuming and painful! What's needed instead is a method designed for more widespread removal like depilatories and waxing or even electrolysis or laser treatment.

Depilatories are an inexpensive, short-term facial hair removal option. Extreme care must be taken when using on the face as these products can irritate and even burn facial skin. And because depilatories only dissolve visible hair, this method must be repeated frequently as new hair growth appears. The upside is, this process is inexpensive and can be done in the privacy of your own home.

Electrolysis and laser are better options. They're permanent facial hair removal methods and they work by damaging the base of the hair follicle so that hair growth no longer occurs.

Waxing offers many benefits and is the facial hair removal choice of men and women alike. Like with tweezers, when waxing the hair is 'plucked' from its root. This method doesn't damage the actual hair follicle, so new hair growth will continue to occur, but unlike depilatories, new hair growth won't appear on the skin surface as quickly. In fact, it usually isn't visible for several weeks.

Laser Hair Removal New Jersey Style

For decades in this country men and women alike have been in search of the best way to remove hair and keep it off. A smooth, hairless body seems to be a trend that is here to stay as people are discovering its benefits and how easy it can really be to maintain such a look. Whether suffering from the excessive hair growth of hirsutism or simply looking to keep unwanted hair off, there are many methods, but none quite as long lasting and easy as laser hair removal New Jersey.

How Laser Hair Removal Works

Laser hair removal can be as specific and targeted as the few stray hairs on the eyebrows. At the same time it can remove hair from large areas such as the back and legs. The specific, targeted beam of light can zoom in on the roots of hair anywhere. This light then deadens the root causing the hair to fall out and not grow back.

Laser hair removal treatments are generally done in ? hour to 45 minute sessions. Sometimes it takes 3 or more sessions to completely kill the roots of the whole area where hair removal is wanted.

After a laser treatment session, the skin may be a little red or irritated, but this usually goes away within a short time. The process is so non-evasive that you can return back to work. It makes going on your lunch hour or before work a viable option.

The Benefits of Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is permanent as soon as the individual hair root is deadened. This makes the process one of the most desirable hair removal systems for many people who don?t ever want the hair to grow back.

Laser hair removal is also able to complete this task over large areas of the skin. Men often want a hairless chest or back and women often remove hair from their legs - - both large areas and often too painstaking for waxing, tweezing, or removing with an epilator.

The laser technology associated with this form of hair removal is safe and effective for unwanted hair anywhere. It can be used to remove female pubic hair in place of bikini waxing, sugaring, or cr?me hair removers. It works on armpits, eyebrows or individual stray hairs that may form on the face, breasts, and abdomen.

Caring for Skin After Laser Removal

Skin may be slightly red and a little sensitive following the laser removal procedure. This will go away quickly and painlessly.

Laser removal of hair does not affect tanning. You will still get the same quality of suntan as before being exposed to a laser, although you should not tan immediately following the procedure since skin will be highly sensitive to sunlight for a short time after laser treatment.

Apply cosmetics will be save also after a laser treatment. Laser hair removal doesn?t usually dry skin, but you may want to choose a cosmetic with a moisturizer just to keep skin radiant and healthy looking.

Head Lice What Parents Need to Know

Head lice are small parasitic insects dwelling principally on the scalp and neck hairs and mainly affects school going children. Head lice are mainly passed on by direct hair to hair contact with another infected individuals hair, but could now and again be circulated via infested combs, caps or other hair accessories. When an individual becomes infested with head lice, it is most probable that all of the household will also become infested.

The lice feasts on the person's blood and the bite can cause itching. If you or a member of your family suffers from irritation and scratching of the scalp and back of the neck, head lice could be the cause. Close inspection of the head should reveal tiny, off-white or dark eggs (nits) firmly attached to the hair, chiefly at the nape of the neck and over the ears.

Hair lice can be eliminated with effective lice shampoo once it is used correctly. However many parents are concerned about using those particular products because they contain pesticides in most cases. Combing out the hair using a good metallic nit comb is a good and effective alternative for people who might concerned about the use of hair products which contain pesticides. Head Lice information

This is what is considered to be in the in-style theme of the year.

If you go back to the roaring 20?s you will see that many stars wore their hair in a bob style and if you notice many wedding hairstyles were this short hairstyle. However, some women would of course prefer longer hairstyles or wearing their hair in an up-do.

Royalty in Europe also sets the stage when it comes to wedding hairstyles. Princess Dianna had a short wedding hairstyle and any place you looked for a few years many women were styling their wedding hairstyles in the same fashion.

During the 60?s in the US, it was the long hairstyles that made it in the wedding scene. Many wore long hairstyles or hair extensions and the used flowers and beaded headbands to compliment their wedding gown. Since, several weddings during the 1960?s were performed outdoors, the mood was more casual and comfortable, so more casual wedding hairstyles were seen.

The Benefits of Discount Salon Equipment

Many suppliers of salon equipment offer products that are labeled as ?discount? for various reasons. Some discounted salon equipment may be a good bargain, but the buyer must always be an educated consumer when purchasing such discounted items.

Discount salon equipment may pertain to both new and used equipment. There are many suppliers that tout the word ?discount? to entice consumers to purchase their products. In an effort to convince the customer that they offer better prices than their competitors, they loosely advertise that they offer ?discount? prices. There are numerous, reputable suppliers that do offer great buys and low prices on quality equipment; however it is extremely important to be a wise consumer and conduct basic product research prior to purchasing discount salon equipment.

Suppliers of discount salon equipment typically offer many different styles and brands of equipment. Large suppliers are often able to offer deep discounts to the customer due to their ability to make bulk purchases directly from the factory. This can equate to great cost savings for the consumer. Unlike smaller suppliers, businesses specializing in discount salon equipment typically do not offer customization of equipment. They offer what is currently in stock and quickly ship to the customer in an effort to bring in new equipment. Many discount suppliers have elaborate e-commerce sites and online catalogs that allow potential customers to easily research available products and prices.

Suppliers of discount salon equipment frequently offer financing or leasing options to qualified customers. Even at discount prices, some salon equipment can be very expensive. The option of financing or leasing equipment often makes good business sense to a salon owner. The ability to break a large payment into smaller monthly payments or take advantage of lower monthly ?lease? payments may appeal to a new salon owner or simply entice a thrifty customer to make a purchase.

In purchasing discount salon equipment it is important to know that the supplier is reputable. Ask questions about their return and exchange policies. If the policy is not easily understood or does not exist, make a purchase elsewhere. The Better Business Bureau is a great resource when attempting to ensure that a supplier is reputable. Networking and asking other salon owners where they purchase their equipment may also lead to capturing a great deal.

Cocovida Virgin Coconut Oil Manufacturing Secrets!

Cocovida coconut oil is made from fresh mature Philippine coconuts, using the cold-process method of production. Cocovida uses absolutely no heat in the manufacture of their oil. In fact they are one of the founder members of the (ANH) group of companies, that have joined together to lobby for stringent guidelines in VCO production.

The vast majority of virgin coconut oil on sale in the US and UK is subjected to varying amounts of heat during production. Heating is used to rid the VCO of the minute amount of moisture left after the oil has separated from the protein and the skim milk. The heating allows the producer to package the oil on the day it is harvested. It can then be shipped the next day.......Unfortunately; heating the oil also destroys some of the vital antioxidants and nutrients that make VCO so beneficial.

Heated oils invariably have a low Lauric Acid content. Lauric Acid is the medium chain fatty acid which is gives VCO its formidable healing powers. Cocovida VCO has a recently confirmed Lauric Acid content of 54.1%. This is actually above the Philippine National Standard of 45.1% to 53.2%. The Philippine National Standard was set so low, to take into account the Lauric Acid of the heated oils. Any oil with a Lauric Acid content of below 45.1% would almost certainly not get licensed by the Philippine Bureau of Food and Drugs.

Cocovida VCO is allowed to stand for 4 weeks after harvesting. This is enough time for the final moisture content to separate from the oil. During this 4 week period the oil is filtered a minimum of 4 times. This makes Cocovida oil, water clear. (Please do not believe the rubbish on some websites about small brown particles being indigenous to VCO. All it means is, they can't be bothered to filter their oil. ) The reason the moisture level has to be kept to an absolute minimum, is that it is the moisture level that contributes to the oil eventually going rancid . Cocovida has a regular analysis done at The Philippine Institute for Pure and Applied Chemistry, the most recent showing moisture content of .12%, against a Philippine National Standard of .2%. We are therefore able to state the Cocovida VCO has a very long shelf life.

Before you buy your next jar of VCO, please check the facts. We are more than confident that the quality of our oil is far superior to the other VCO's already available in the UK and US

Cocovida is a corporation founded by a group of people who have so much love for nature and healthy lifestyle. For great prices and information on coconut oil, virgin coconut oil or natural haircare then please visit our websites

Laser Hair Removal: Ruby Laser Hair Removal

The Ruby laser is an infrared laser and was the first laser hair removal system on the market. As such, it has a longer track record than other laser hair removal options but is also an older technology.

Ruby lasers tend to be ideal for people who have light-colored skin and dark hair.

A Ruby laser works by emitting a pulse of light from a handheld device that is held up against the area of skin to be treated. Once the pulse has been delivered, the practitioner moves to the next area of skin and the process is repeated until the entire area has been covered.

Since it's an older laser technology, there are other newer laser hair removal options that are becoming more readily available than the Ruby laser and that might be more effective, too.

Plus, there are also light-based hair removal systems on the market also based on newer technology that instead of using laser, use a pulsed light to get rid of unwanted hair that many people are turning to and that are widely available.

Still, the Ruby laser has a long track record that generally shows that it can offer long-term hair reduction when operated by a skilled and trained professional. The amount of pain felt by the patient tends to vary on a case by case basis.

Long term success and possible side effects of the hair removal will also vary by patient.

Temporary and permanent hair removal technology is evolving constantly and is relevant to both men and women who want to remove unwanted hair.

New York Laser Hair Removal Surgery

Surgery for the removal of hair using a laser is a new development. The initial equipment that came into the market for this treatment had problems that led to lawsuits. But continuous research has improved the technology and product line. Most centers for laser hair removal surgery use US Food & Drug Administration (USFDA) approved processes and devices.

The procedure is to focus laser beams at the hair follicles, which absorb the heat through their dark pigmentation and die. The surrounding skin is not affected if it is of a lighter shade than the hair. As we learned in school, dark colors absorb heat and lighter ones do not. A fair-skinned person with black or brown hair would an ideal candidate for this treatment. But newly developed technologies could perhaps manage dark-skinned people also. A respectable laser hair removal clinic would accept a candidate only after carefully studying the skin condition.

Human hair has cyclical growth. Laser surgery is most effective if it is done during the growing phase. It may not be possible to cover all such hair in one session. Therefore, two to six sittings may be required for the desired effect. The sessions may be five or six weeks apart and, depending on the area to be covered, each sitting may need one to two hours.

Anesthesia is not given normally. But some clients do ask for a numbing cream. Generally, the threat of serious side effects is minimal. Reddishness or slight swelling of the treated area may show up. These can be managed with the local application of an appropriate cream

or lotion. One can resume work immediately after the surgery.

The cost differs depending on the area that is involved. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the average surgeon fee was $429 per session in 2003.

Eliminate Ingrown Pubic Hair ? The Brazilian Wax & More

In part 1 of this article we discussed what is an ingrown pubic hair is, and how to eliminate it should it happen to you.

Here we will now elaborate how not to get ingrown pubic hair at all through some easy hair prevention care.

What is an Ingrown Pubic Hair?

An ingrown pubic hair is one that grows at an abnormal angle and turns back into the skin, causing the formation of a pustule or papule (A small, solid inflammatory elevation of the skin that may or may not contain pus. Also commonly known as ?razor bumps?). It can also be a hair that is trapped due to blockage at the hair follicle level.

How to Prevent it!

To achieve the ?bald look? (or more glamorously known as the Hollywood or Brazilian look) you will have to either (a) shave, (b) be waxed, (c) be ?halawa-ed? ? a sugar based hair removing technique, (d) depilatory cream, or (e) be Indian threaded. It can be safely assumed that if you are waxed, halawa-ed, or threaded, you are using a professional.

You can wax yourself, but certainly not in all the hard to reach places. If you are using a professional, you should exfoliate first. This will remove the dead skin cells that can interfere with the complete hair removal, and cause some ingrown problems.

After the professional treatment you must insist on the use of disinfecting solution and moisturizing cream applied after treatment. This should insure the pores stay open and soften the remaining hair enough to find its way out. It is an extra expense, but well worth the investment.

For those who chose to shave

You obviously have a choice of electric razor or blade. In today?s marketplace you find acceptable choices for both, but the electric razor is superior, and the re-grown hair is softer and less likely to grow inward. Shave in the direction of the hair growth, not against it.

As a preparation, always exfoliate with a hot towel compress, and follow that by a gentle scrub with a loofa (an Egyptian aquatic sponge-like plant that is excellent for skin exfoliation), with warm soapy water. After drying, use the electric razor in short strokes, not pulling back the skin too much, and shave towards, not against the natural hair growth.

The normal razor is less complicated, and one should shave in the shower, where the skin has been softened by constant hot water.

Use a non-scented shaving cream or gel (King of Shaves is an excellent choice, as it has both T-Tree Oil and Aloe Vera) and as above, shave in the direction of the natural hair growth. When you are finished, apply a similar moisturizing lotion, such as suggested above with electric razor. Obviously, the hard to reach places are just that. Be careful.

The last choice are the depilatory creams. Do a patch test on some other place of your body to see if you react well to these chemicals.

These creams usually contain two chemicals (sodium thioglycolate and calcium thioglycolate) that do a good job at dissolving keratin (the material that makes up your hair).

However, they are strong chemicals and can cause irritation, so you must make sure you tolerate them.

Following these few suggestions you will prevent the formation of ingrown pubic hair, and be a smooth as you in such a private place as the pubic area.

European Human Hair Wig How Much Does It Really Cost?

I am sure you have wondered what the truth is about the prices of wigs made from European human hair. From shop to shop you will find a huge variation in prices, anywhere from 300 USD to as high as 10.000 USD (!). So let me take you through each step of the process of producing high quality handmade wigs, and show the real costs.

Firstly, take the acquisition of hair. The cost of hair for one wig (0,2 ? 0,4 kg) varies from 30 to 40 USD throughout most Eastern European countries. There is little variation there, but an important additional cost is incurred by high-quality wig-makers who collect hair in an appropriate and well-controlled way. The best wig-makers visit hairdressers and care for the hair themselves, using no middleman. They do not buy hair from wholesalers because wholesalers blend hair, because it is so time-consuming to acquire really good hair.

One simply has to find a girl among hairdresser?s clients that has beautiful, healthy hair and who wants it cut. The hairdresser can offer a free service to such a girl and actually pay her for her hair - and clearly both sides benefit from such a transaction. But this shows that, by its very nature, acquisition of good-quality hair cannot be a simple large-scale automatic process. That explains why outside of Eastern Europe the price of acquiring good quality hair is skyrocketing - not because the hair in itself is expensive, but because of its rarity. It is difficult to imagine a large-scale cheap process of acquiring high quality human hair in European countries.

Second, take the other materials used in making wigs. These are not expensive and their costs do not exceed 50 USD for a typical wig. These are the materials used to produce a cap. More and more wig-makers are now buying ready-made caps, so called monofilament, which are gaining popularity and their cost is not very high.

Third, take the labor involved in making high quality handmade wigs. This is the main cost factor. Handmade wig needs at least a week to be produced by an experienced expert worker. It takes a week of hard work, with each hair being knitted to the cap with a very small crochet-needle or glued with a special glue. In the case of long hair, the production time could be two to three weeks. Reliable wig-makers knit hair with a double-knot which makes the construction much more durable but needs some extra work-time. Depending on the type of wig, length of hair and type of cap the cost of labor is from 150 to 300 USD.

Finally, you cannot forget other typical business costs like investment?s amortization, management costs, taxes, insurances, rent, and profit. Altogether, the price of a handmade human hair wig made from European hair cannot be lower than 500-600 USD even for the shortest hair. There is no upper limit and it only depends on how much a customer is willing to pay, but before you pay 1000 USD or more for your wig remember the real costs of its creation.

And now for a real mystery. Why are European human hair wigs not made in China where labor costs are much lower than in Poland, Russia, or the Czech Republic? The main reason is no good quality European human hair available in large enough quantities to make profitable large-scale production in China possible. This is because wig-makers in Eastern European countries are buying all of the available hair for their own production. Surprising? -- but that is how it is. And that is why most of wigs produced in China are made of Asian hair or blended hair widely available on a wholesale market.

Franek Migaszewski is co-founder and manager of Wiggywigs.com site, the first wig vendor from Eastern Europe selling human hair wigs directly to the western markets on the Internet.

Choosing the Correct Hair Products for Your Hair

When choosing your shampoo please look closely at the label. You should see all the materials and substances it was made of. The main thing shampoos consist of are detergents the surfactants that make foam show up when mixing with water and air.

Detergents.

Detergent is shampoo's basic and semantic component. After all the shampoo is intended to wash your hair, that's all. All the stuff that is above this definition is called medicated shampoos, conditioners, antiseborrheic shampoos and so on.

Though the amount of the foam does not determine the quality of the shampoo, the detergent has great influence on it. Nowadays few detergents that differ in its chemical structure exist. They are divided into anionic, cationic, nonionic and amphoteric.

Anionic detergents are most commonly used in shampoos and shower gels. They are cheap and have good purifying qualities. Anionic surfactants can be easily removed from the hair.

Cationic surfactants (with positive ions) are used not so often and have higher concentration. Some of them may cause eye irritation.

Amphoteric surfactants that contain positive or negative ions depending from shampoos pH are used for curing damaged and dry hair.

If we put in a line from worst to best we will get the following: Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate, Ammonium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, TEA Layril Sulfate, OAA Laureth Sulfate. So as you see last three surfactants are the best ones. On every shampoo's label such detergent is displayed first.

Conditioners

Conditioners are not shampoos but assistants. You can find them as a part of shampoos or in individual bottles. There are lots of conditioners that have different practical significance.

Moisturizers are assigned for dry hair because of their ability to draw moisture. Usually the components are proteins and vegetable extracts. Moisturizers are mostly made of lactoserum.

Reconstructors contain proteins like hydrolyzed keratin. It can easily come through hair shell due to its small molecular weight. Reconstructor conditioners are used when the hair is damaged (i.e after hairdressing)

Acidifier conditioners make your hair shiny and elastic. It gives an impression of boosted volume, but it is only an optical illusion. pH index is about 2.5-3.5.

Thermal protectors can be found in shampoos with Therm or Thermal prefix. (like Thermasilk). Its basis are special polymers that distribute warmth when are put on the hair. This is very helpful for people who use curlers and blow-dry often.

Hair conditioners can form a part of shampoo (so called 2 in 1). But the effect is less noticeable then after separate use. During simultaneous use you have lower chances for conditioner to work properly. As for using shampoos and conditioners of different producers.

Using the conditioner

Place conditioner on the hair, but not on the head.

When doing that you can massage the skin on the head with your fingers

If you have mixed hair you should work up only the tips.

After using the rinser that you should wash your head 2-3 times with warm and the last time with cold water.

Medicated shampoos

Medicated shampoos are used for curing illnesses, especially dandruff. Dandruff appears when the microscopical fungus (Malassezia Furfur) starts its activity. That?s why dandruff shampoos contain substances against seborrhea and antifungal agents.

Zinc Pirythione, Climbazole, Ketoconozole, Selenium Disulphide have antimicrobial effect against Malassezia Furfur that is supposed to cause dandruff appearance. Octopirox, Coal Tar, Selenium Disulphide suppress activity of cells that produce fat. Coal Tar, Sulphur , Salicylic Acid have keratolytic effect on the skin. In other words it is the capability to detach layers of dead cells that cause dandruff to appear.

Choosing a shampoo

First of all you must choose shampoo taking in consideration the type of your hair. Thus if you have dry hair you should buy moisturizing shampoo and so on. It is harder to choose when you got long hair of different types (oily hair at your roots and dry one at the tips). In that case cosmetologists suggest a new haircut.

It is obligatory to pay attention on the detergent. Which one is better you can see in the beginning of the article.

If you like the shampoo but it is not suitable for you try not to experiment with it.

If the hair is damaged (after the hairdressing) you should use shampoos with pH 4.5-5.5
