Do Hats Cause Baldness?

The constant falling of hair causes a lot of concern. Finding the cause for the hair fall becomes a necessity. And to find the cause you end up asking a lot of questions. The hair loss questions that come to mind usually are, whether we are taking proper care of the hair? Whether the food is nutritious? And if a person wears caps or hats regularly, then the question that comes to mind is, do hats cause baldness? Proper care and nutritious food are necessary for maintaining hair and an imbalance could cause balding but there has been no finding that relates wearing hats to baldness.

People who work in services like military, police, and fire brigade have to wear hats or caps all day. Usually it has been seen that hair loss and wearing hats coincide, but there is no proof that the hair loss starts due to your wearing hats. A male hormone called Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is responsible for the hair loss. An imbalance of DHT damages hair follicles and for this reason hair falls. There are other reasons also that cause hair loss.

Normally hair loss starts due to three basic reasons, these are stress, DHT and health. In the armed forces and other services stress is at a high level. Due to this stress the hair starts falling. Poor health can damage blood cells and vessels. Dead vessels hold back the growth process of hair, which in turn creates baldness on the head. This type of hair loss can be seen with people suffering from heart diseases. Heart patients suffer from hair loss problems.

So we can conclude that hair loss does not happen due to wearing hats. Though, wearing tight hats all the time can cause a little bit of split hair ends. In fact, most people start wearing hats only after they go bald.
